Investment Policy and Strategy Design
We are dedicated to offering superior services to our corporate clients, whilst maximising return on investment and deliverance of investment goals. We offer research-driven Investment Strategy design and Investment Policy Statement (IPS) formulation and maintenance, focused on addressing the objectives, constraints and circumstances related to Investment Strategy.

Investment Strategy design
We help our clients to develop a detailed set of investment principles, objectives and constraints that are consistent with their Fund’s purpose, membership profile and regulations governing the Fund.

A good Investment Strategy is one that consistently achieves the set objectives. That is why we do not define risk as monthly volatility, but rather as the probability of not achieving the investment goals. Our extensive, high quality economic, asset manager and asset class research enables us to design Investment Strategies for our clients that maximise their probability of achieving their investment objectives, consistently. This is done through a disciplined process that requires ongoing monitoring and corrective action as market conditions change. Adding value through the employment of optimal asset allocation strategies, a rigorous manager selection process and a focus on the risks associated with the type of investment vehicle selected are inherent in our extensive Investment Strategy design process.

Investment Policy Statement Formulation and Maintenance
An Investment Policy Statement (IPS) is a client-specific document designed to address the objectives, constraints, unique circumstances, and overall policies that govern the investment related activities of the Fund. The document should clearly define the responsibilities for all parties involved in the Fund’s Investment Strategy. The IPS should also define rules for monitoring and reviewing all facets of the Investment Strategy. Research has shown that having a clear and well-defined process for investment decision making remains one of the key factors for ultimately achieving the set objectives of an investor.

We help our clients to design and maintain a clear, well-defined Investment Policy Statement. This is important to the success of any Investment Strategy, as it plays a vital role in the overall governance structure of the Fund. Well-defined objectives are important to ensure that the mission of the Fund can be achieved with the highest probability. By identifying the potential risks the pool of assets may face, the Fund will be in a better position to manage these risks as they arise. The IPS helps all associated parties to have a clear understanding of their roles and aligns them to the objectives of the Fund.
Implementation Management
Once the Investment Strategy has been finalised and documented a very important aspect of the management of a Fund, implementation, is often overlooked. During the implementation of an Investment Strategy or change in Investment Strategy, Funds are often exposed to ignificant risks that Trustees and members are not always aware of. A well planned implementation not only mitigates many of these risks, but can also save a Fund a substantial amount of money by limiting direct costs (such as trading costs) and indirect costs (such as market opportunity costs), often overlooked by Funds.

Managing and Monitoring , Implementations
When managing the implementation of an Investment Strategy, it is critically important to make sure that all the roleplayers (client, employee benefits administrators, investment administrators, transition managers and asset managers etc.) understand the goal of the implementation. We assist our clients in the design and execution of the project plan - on time and within budget. The project management service entails the following aspects: project plan design and documentation, running weekly implementation project meetings with role players, project review meetings with clients.

Once the implementation has been completed, a comprehensive implementation report is presented to the client in the form of a comprehensive post transition and account reconciliation report.
Ongoing Management and Reporting
In a dynamic environment where many conventional ideas are continuously challenged, it is of the utmost importance to ensure that once designed and effectively implemented, the Investment Strategy of the Fund is monitored on an ongoing basis and that relevant aspects for action are continuously raised combined with strong guidance and advice on these matters.

Investment Performance Reporting
In the daily noise created by investment markets, it is easy to get distracted and lose focus of the real factors to be controlled. With extensive experience in the measurement and analysis of investment performance, we are perfectly positioned to assist our clients to design an efficient, easy to understand and uncluttered investment report. This investment report focuses on the understanding and interpretation of investment performance relative to the set benchmarks, targets and investment objectives as well as relative to a carefully selected peer-group. These reports ensure that Trustees are able to take immediate and appropriate action when required.

Advice on Consulting Matters
From new regulations to the fast pace of developments in the industry, Trustees are constantly challenged to find the time, resources and skills to effectively deal with investment matters affecting their Funds. Our promise is to ensure that Trustees are always fully appraised of industry developments, the regulatory environment and more importantly, any fund-specific factors. Our analysis and research is always accompanied by global best advice as well as clear guidance on the actions required by Trustees in order to effectively deal with these opportunities and challenges.

Regulation 28 Compliance and Reporting
Retirement funds are required to ensure continuous compliance with Regulation 28 and its requirements on a member portfolio level. Any breaches need to be rectified within certain timeframes and reported to the Regulator within three months after every calendar quarter-end. We take complete control of this process firstly by ensuring that all investment solutions offered to retirement funds comply with all the requirements of the latest Regulation 28 and, secondly, by taking care of all the administrative complexities involved on behalf of Trustees.
